Kindred Spirit

For more than 50 years, David Crane and Mike Hall have shared a friendship that began in their school years and has only grown stronger with time. Both lifelong residents of Erwin, North Carolina, they have remained inseparable friends throughout the decades. Neither could have imagined that their journey together would one day include singing and sharing the Gospel through music.

From an early age, both David and Mike developed a deep love for music—a passion that continues to this day. While they appreciate many styles of music, gospel music holds a special place in their hearts. Through their music, they seek to honor God, encourage others, and share the message of Jesus Christ.

During the late 1990s and early 2000s, David was a member of the New Life Gospel Band, where he developed his talents as a songwriter and musician, playing both keyboards and guitar. In 2005, he joined Won4Christ as a tenor, further deepening his passion for gospel music. Two years later, in 2007, David encouraged Mike to join Won4Christ as a baritone. Together, they continued to grow in their musical abilities and developed an appreciation for the unique gift of singing multiple parts and harmonies.

As their desire to serve God through music continued to grow, David and Mike spent time in prayer and sought spiritual guidance from close friends and family. Through that journey of faith, Kindred Spirit was born in July 2016.

The group continued to grow. In November 2017, Chris Johnson joined as their sound technician, bringing his talents and dedication to the ministry. In January 2019, Walt Aiken became part of Kindred Spirit, adding his distinctive bass voice and completing the group’s vocal blend.

Today, David, Mike, Walt, and Chris continue to work together to record music, create performance tracks, and prepare vocal parts for their ministry and performances. They are humbled and grateful for the opportunity to use the gifts God has given them to reach and encourage others.

Their journey is one of friendship, faith, music, and trust in God’s direction. As they step forward in faith, they hold firmly to this simple belief:

“We took the first step, and now God will carry us in the direction He wants us to travel.”

The members of Kindred Spirit pray that God will use their music and ministry to touch hearts, encourage lives, and ultimately draw people closer to Him. They are deeply grateful for the continued support, encouragement, and prayers of everyone who has joined them along the way.

Above all, they give thanks to God for His blessings, His faithfulness, and the opportunity to serve Him through music.
